Ambiguity (Brunt / Van Reenen)

It’s good to have you back
So joyous to be here
Hope defies despair
and holidays bring cheer

Dreams deferred can be unearthed
Fornication re-embraced
Where there’s risk, there’s hope
and where there’s bar, it can be graced

Deep inside, where good things hide
bad things will never be
there’s gods between the devil
and the deep blue sea

And all these gods are mortal
because gods don’t exist
put some trust in fellow man
she might be all you missed.

But satisfaction won’t unburden tortured hearts.
And when salvation comes it comes in fits and starts.
(It fits, but only if it starts.)

The prettiest of poisons won’t turn the world away
But lose your shit tomorrow – don’t fall apart today
Grandiose yourself; embrace the crazy
Cram years into your days
Let noone call you lazy
Don’t bore them but amaze

Disease don’t kill the trolls
and that’s a crying shame
and everyone we lost
looks like a ground for blame

But that can’t be the answer
That is not who we are
we celebrate our dead
for their life, each one a shining star

Deep inside, where good things hide
bad things will never be
there’s gods between the devil
and the deep blue sea

And all these gods are mortal
because gods don’t exist
put some trust in fellow man
she might be all you missed.

And yes, these are dark times.
But darkness won’t sustain.
Light will come to guide
and heal us all again.
Darkness never sustains.

The prettiest of poisons won’t turn the world away
But lose your shit tomorrow – don’t fall apart today
Grandiose yourself; embrace the crazy
Cram years into your days
Let noone call you lazy
Don’t bore them but amaze
